oops! or, why the yuppie isn't keeping me:

marky and i went to the mall last night in disguise as old women. ok, maybe it wasn't exactly in actual disguises, but we did eat at the nordstrom cafe, which screams old. since i ate a lemon bar for dinner, i made him go to the gym with me afterwards--where we had this conversation:

marky: "hey, where's (insert the yuppie's real name here) tonight?"
me: "who?"
marky: "umm...the guy you're dating!"
me: "shit! shit! shit! (among other expletives)"

Bad move, Sarah. Please tell me he doesn't read this anymore. Otherwise, when he tells you to go to hell wanna get coffee?

SARAH! This is the stuff you shouldn't blog.. but am glad you do.

Words are hard. Maybe when Mark said NAME, it sounded like someone else we know that requires hair nets for various body parts. And technically, since he's not your "boyfriend" yet, a slip-up every now and again is completely acceptable.

U R such a bitch. He should dump U now.

This is so funny but I can't help but feel sorry for him.

It's easy to call someone names from behind the cowardice of "anonymous".

Believe it or not, it's very understandable. Transition takes time.

To UP: at what point does one attain "boyfriend" status? Must a formal discussion occur?

urban princess said...

A formal discussion isn't necessary to attain "boyfriend" status. Yuppie will reach that level when Sarah feels so inclined to call him that.

UP=I don't think boyfriend is in Sarah's vocabulary. I dated her and never obtained that status. Ya, I'm bitter. I'd have loved to obtain bf status. This guy won't. I know her.

To be clear, I am yet another anonymus poster for obvious reasons, I am not the one who called you bitch.

Baby I'll let you call me boyfriend anytime.

Sarah, don't let these jerks get you down. I think it's funny and I'm sure when you tell The Yuppie he'll laugh as well. You're adorable, you don't need to worry. Who could walk away from you for such trivial reasons.

i thought this was hilarious, easily can happen to anyone...i encourage sarah to blog about just these things, it's (an important)part of dating her, which i was well aware of before hand....regarding bf status, what's the rush (and what's in a name)? I've a friend that referred to her then "bf" as someone she was just hanging out with until they actually got married after seven years of dating

up 1,2,& 3:yes, on all counts...

anon 3: really, you kiss your mother with that mouth? note the part about "wit" in the blog title? find some; you could at least put some effort (and syllables) into your comments

transition anon:yep, takes time...

The Yuppie: It's cool your supportive. I for one would hate to see Sarah blog less just because she's dating someone. I rely on her to provide office entertainment for my coworkers and I. Kudos to you for laughing at what is a very laughable situation.

Anon's: Grow up.

dennis said...

Sorry, I forgot

Sarah: Your simply precious. Don't let the anon comments drag you down. Your adored by the masses, why else would people be so up in arms?

hey, where's Daisy?

Your blog comments are feast or famine these days. No comments and then today, wowzer. People are people, what can you say.

I think the Yuppie being so great is a sure sign you need to remember his name ;)

I think you are too young to remember, but Nordstrom Cafe in crossroads was THE young person hangout in the 80's. coffee, chowder and a cigarette ... ahhhh the 80's

Read your column this week-as usual, got a laugh. Funny that you address exactly what people are asking you via comments.

My favorite line "I've got issues, so what". I was LOL-ing all morning over that.

To Mr. Anonymous I would think wisely of calling someone a bitch, that was raised with 4 brothers? All of whom fiercely love their sister.

Cool. 21 comments and there was no religous slam involved.

Glad you posted this. It is just so you. And glad the yup liked it.

For the record, I have only heard the bf word applied to one person in Sarah's life.

Scott The Stray,

How long have you known Bellum? If you've known her for a year and she's had one bf thats one thing, but if you've known her longer I want to know.

Hard to believe a dating columnist would not have had previous boyfriends. Makes me think she's not qualified.

Thanx,

Curious in Murray

Curious in Murray: You can date many guys and not call any/all of them boyfriend. That doesn't make her any less qualified to be a dating columnist.
